JetBlue is Going Carbon Neutral
According to a press release issued in early January, airliner JetBlue plans to offset carbon dioxide emissions from jet fuel for all of its domestic flights. The change will begin in July 2020, marking JetBlue as a trailblazer in the worldwide effort for airliners to reduce their contribution to global warming. In addition, JetBlue also announced its mid-2020 goal of flying with sustainable aviation fuel on flights based out of San Francisco International Airport.
These transitions come as part of JetBlue’s long-term commitment to combatting a changing climate and ensuring a more sustainable business for customers, communities, crewmembers and shareholders.
“Air travel connects people and cultures, and supports a global economy, yet we must act to limit this critical industry’s contributions to climate change,” said Robin Hayes, chief executive officer of JetBlue. “We reduce where we can and offset where we can’t. By offsetting all of our domestic flying, we’re preparing our business for the lower-carbon economy that aviation, and all sectors, must plan for.”
