Bleisure travel is not a new concept to me. The art of adding on a leisure portion to a business trip has been around for some time. I’m quite sure that many of you, as travel advisors, have enjoyed bleisure travel quite frequently. I’ve taken advantage of a few business trips this way especially when it’s a destination where I can enjoy some time with dear friends.
According to the article Workcations: The travel trend mixing work and play, bleisure travel is evolving into workcations. I feel like this is a whole new avenue for travel advisor sales.
Personally, prior to the pandemic, I don’t think I would’ve found this interesting. If I’m going to travel, I want to get away and not think about work in the destination. Now, after working remotely in my home office, I think this is a fantastic idea!
Much of the world has gone remote and finds that it is really working. Those employees that were dedicated to their jobs in the office are likely more productive working remotely. The opportunity to take that job on the road to a different destination with fresh views and opportunities to explore new places can really improve one’s mental wellness. The studies in the article suggest that it may boost productivity and creativity and help travelers cope with work-related stress.
I don’t think this is a new thing for many travel advisors. You travel to a destination to learn about properties and spend a great deal of time on your laptops keeping up with your clients. Perhaps for the travel industry, this has been going on for some time but hasn’t been named until now. As more workers look for this opportunity, it appears it could be a lasting opportunity beyond the pandemic.
Are you currently booking workcations or is this something you’d like to add to your radar?

I was fortunate to be able to help Dugan’s celebrate their 20th birthday in Anaheim, CA in February. The most agents in my history with Dugan’s gathered ready to engage for this conference! This was my 4th Anaheim conference with them, and once again, though I’m right across the street from Disneyl
Early in September I attended CoNexion, Nexion’s international conference. History has always proven this to be a highly engaged, energetic and exciting event and this year was truly no different. Arriving at Loews Royal Pacific Resort is always exciting, as who doesn’t love Universal Orlando? Eve
