On Feb. 18, 2020, British airline Virgin Atlantic began selling tickets for new seasonal services to two destinations: Sao Paulo, starting in March, and Cape Town, starting in October.
Additionally, Virgin Atlantic spilled the specifics on this route’s operational plans. The new service to Cape Town will complement an existing daily service to Johannesburg operating on a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The night flight on the VS478 will depart from Heathrow at 4:20p.m., and arrive in Cape Town at 5:55a.m. Then the VS479 will depart at 8 a.m., and land later around 6 p.m.
“2020 is an extremely exciting year of continued growth for Virgin Atlantic. Not only are we launching a new service to Sao Paulo in March but we’re delighted to announce a new seasonal service to Cape Town offering more choice for our customers than ever before,” said chief commercial officer, Juha Jarvinen. “We’re delighted to be flying to Cape Town again – we’re expecting a high proportion of leisure travelers on this route taking advantage of the winter sun, the safaris and of course, the world-famous wine region.”
