Success Is Good for the Soul

Achieving success in business can be very fulfilling.  It can allow you to believe in yourself and give you a sense of self-worth.  I find that it satisfies a part of me that other areas of my life do not.

Of course, being successful in business isn’t the only goal in life. For example, I love being a mom, a friend, a wife.  However, those things do not fulfill me the same way that being a successful business owner does. They are each separate entities that, when combined, give me a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Recognizing and honoring the value of them is important to my overall self-esteem.

Everyone needs balance in their lives, and your profession is just one factor of that objective. But it’s an important piece of the equation that leads to self-confidence and pride in what you do. Achieving goals and succeeding in your efforts can provide an enormous boost to your ego and self-worth. Pushing yourself to meet and exceed your objectives can give you the impetus you need to keep reaching new targets.

There are agents who cannot overcome the challenges of trying to achieve a balance in their lives. We recently lost a very successful travel advisor because of life events that were out of her control. She was great at what she did and was advancing quickly within the agency. However, she was forced to choose between her business and other responsibilities, so she left the agency. I was disappointed and sad to see her leave and hope that some day she will return.

Success in business is attainable for anyone who wants it. I have seen many individuals achieve it. One in particular stands out. Barb was the first agent I brought on to learn the travel business 23 years ago. Keep in mind that I was pretty clueless about teaching someone about the travel industry but Barb was eager to learn. I discovered that I actually enjoyed teaching others about the travel industry even more than I loved booking travel. Seeing other agents succeed in the business gives me great pleasure and satisfaction.

After 23 years of hard work, Barb will receive our Five Star Agent designation this year. She has blossomed over that time, even during the challenging years of COVID-19. It took her 23 long years to achieve this award but she persevered despite setbacks because it was her goal. She never gave up and now she is getting the rewards that she has earned and deserves.

I hope Barb will recognize her success and accomplishments and be proud of them.  They have been a long time in the making and well-deserved.  I hope her story will demonstrate to others that success is possible if you believe in yourself.  When you give yourself permission to go after it, everything else will fall into place.

As I continue to see new people join our agency, I am excited to see so many achieving success. It’s projected that we will have at least 10 more agents this year who will make the Five Star list for the first time. That is a success in my book.

We also have several agents who, due to the restrictions of COVID-19, did not make it to Five Star status in 2021. Those agents are back on track and will reach that level of success after this prosperous year. As we find balance within our lives, we all win. I feel fortunate to be able to share my knowledge and help others experience the success that will fill their souls and enrich their lives.
