Travel insights from Codie Liermann, managing editor of The Compass

September 2022 Editor’s Note

As we wrap up the last month of summer, it’s hard to believe August has already come and gone. With a focus on sustainability, we shared all sorts of noteworthy articles on The Compass – from a Tourism Cares feature to a round up of eco-friendly vacation spots and even a list of all-inclusive sustainable resorts in Mexico.

Our summer issue of The Compass Magazine also recently became available digitally, and the full version can be read here. The theme for this issue was luxury, so readers will get a healthy dose of luxury travel inspiration along with plenty of business tips. Be sure to check it out!

For September, we’re gearing up for the winter ahead. We have ski travel on the mind – it’s never too early to start planning for winter vacations, right?  We’ll share articles on family ski destinations, domestic towns with the best slopes and much more.

This month is also a great time to remind clients about booking those sun and fun vacations over the chillier winter months. The idea of a sunny getaway mid-winter is bound to come up over the holiday chatter at get togethers. Why not encourage your clients to get theirs on the books so it’s one less thing to worry about? Then they’ll already have a topic to talk about with family and friends as well as something to look forward to.

In addition to simply enjoying one of my favorite months of the year, one of the things I’m most looking forward to in September is attending an intimate retreat for travel advisors at Secrets Akumal Resort & Spa in Riviera Maya, Mexico. I’ll be sharing tips with agents on how to get noticed in the media. A travel law attorney, an accountant and a marketing strategist will also be participating in this business building event.

I love seeing travel advisors come together to work towards the same goal of growing their business, and that’s exactly what this event is all about. There is enough room for everyone in this industry, and those that work together and lift each other up are the ones who succeed.
