Travel insights from Codie Liermann, managing editor of The Compass

October 2022 Editor’s Note

And just like that, another month has come and gone. During the month of September, The Compass focused on ski travel, from airlines' ski and snowboard policies to accessibility on the slopes. We also featured Club Med’s unique all-inclusive ski vacation experience at its various mountain resorts.

September also revealed some exciting news in the travel industry. Hyatt announced plans to debut its new Inclusive Collection in Bulgaria with five all-inclusive resorts. After extensive renovations and rebranding, the properties are expected to open in 2023 and 2024. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is also expanding its Wyndham Alltra brand with the opening of Wyndham Alltra Riviera Nayarit.

Tourism Cares had big news to share this month as well. In partnership with the Cultural Heritage Economic Alliance, the Travel Foundation and the U.S. Cultural & Heritage Marketing Council, the organization is hosting the first-ever Partnership Stewardship Summit in Richmond, VA from October 15 - 18 2023. It’s a “must-attend” event for travel advisors who share the organizations’ goal of ensuring an inclusive future for travel and tourism.

As we transition into October, our focus is on romance – weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, you name it. You’ll hear from a variety of suppliers and travel advisors sharing their latest insight on planning these types of trips. Being a part of planning your client’s dream destination wedding is a great way to ensure you have a customer for life. If everything goes well with the wedding, they’ll be coming back to you to have you book all their special occasion trips in the future.

Today also kicks off our destination wedding campaign. Whether you’re new to booking destination weddings or you’re a veteran in this department, you’ll find a host of useful information on this page throughout the next month. Be sure to take a look at the campaign page, and don’t forget to check back each week as there will be new content every Monday.
