Liberia, Costa Rica Airport Now Offering COVID Testing

The Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Costa Rica is now offering PCR and rapid antigen COVID testing to passengers.

The airport’s testing center is located next to the arrival building. According to email communication from the airport’s reservations department, travelers need to have their testing appointment set up for four hours before their departure. Appointments can be scheduled online, where travelers can also choose the type of test they need:

  • 1-hour antigen – $65
    • The only type of COVID test results authorized for entry into the U.S.
  • Next-day PCR – $99
  • 3-hour PCR – $240

Testing results will be delivered to travelers via email.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica, travelers must present their airline tickets at the time of testing.

Another important thing to know about traveling to Costa Rica right now is that, according to the airport’s website, all passengers must have an airport shuttle reservation before arrival in order to use the airport’s shuttle services, and reservations are not taken at the airport.

Testing is expected to be available at the San Jose, Costa Rica Airport (SJO) soon.
