Jamaica Ramps Up COVID-19 Testing Capacity

In late January, the Jamaica Tourism Board (JTB) announced that COVID-19 testing capacity will increase across the island in order to meet the needs of travelers from the U.S. and Canada to present a negative COVID-19 test in order to re-enter their home countries.

Many hotels and resorts on the island are now offering on-site testing to guests. Visit Jamaica has a full list of those properties as well as a directory of the 18 locations where laboratory tests are available. Visit Jamaica’s website says testing resources will be available at both of Jamaica’s airports, Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) and Sangster International Airport (MBJ), but it is unclear when that will happen. The website also has a robust FAQs section to help set travelers’ expectations for entering and leaving Jamaica.

“We can confidently assure travelers that Jamaica’s testing capacity will adequately meet the requirements for travel to the United States and Canada,” said Donovan White, Director of Tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board. “Jamaica is resilient. As we keep an eye toward other potential changes for international travelers, we are pleased with our destination-wide preparedness and the progress we have made to make COVID-19 testing even more accessible.”
