It’s Time for Some Facebook Spring Cleaning

Since 54.9 percent of Facebook users follow or research brands and products on the platform, according to Hootsuite, you want to be sure all your information in your business profile is updated and ready for anyone who might look you up.

While it should not be your only form of marketing, you must have a business page because that is your public facing social profile, and it establishes your credibility in the social media space.

Anybody on Facebook can see it, and it also comes up in Google searches. I highly recommend, in addition to a business page, to have groups to engage current and potential clients as well.

Now is the time to do a spring cleaning on your business page profile. Follow these tips:

  1. Your profile picture should be a recent picture of yourself (no one else in the picture). Choose either a photo of you in destination or a professional headshot. You’re in the business of building relationships; they need to see your face. Your face should be clear and not in the shadows or out of focus.
  2. Your description in the about section can be found by selecting edit page info. This should be a summary of your business and make sure that it is eye catching.
  3. Post business hours – even if you work at crazy hours, you're a professional, and professionals have office hours.
  4. Make sure the call-to-action button is activated and the action is up to date. This is at the top of your page, and you can set it to message you if someone clicks it, send them to your website or quote request form. I personally use the “Message” feature for the call-to-action button; it promotes conversation. If you already have this set up, make sure whatever it links to is still accurate: website, email, phone number, form link, etc.

You don’t want to miss out on a sale because a link is broken on your Facebook business page.  Right now, go and check these things out on your business page.
