After teasing a big announcement all week, Universal Orlando Resort unveiled plans for Epic Universe, an ambitious new theme park that, according to Universal, will “take guests on a journey where beloved stories expand into vibrant lands.”
Epic Universe will span 750 acres and will feature hotels, shops, restaurants and even an entertainment center, making it the single-largest investment Comcast NBCUniversal has made in its theme park business.
“Our vision for Epic Universe is historic,” said Tom Williams, chairman and chief executive officer for Universal Parks & Resorts. “It will build on everything we have done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created. It is an investment in our business, our industry, our team and our community.”
While official details about Epic Universe have yet to be revealed, there are plenty of rumors floating around as to what the different themes may be, including Super Nintendo World and DreamWorks attractions like Shrek, Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon.
