Fraud, cybersecurity and the protection of your technology is today’s equivalent to “Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!” from the Wizard of Oz. There are plenty of people working their wizardry out in the technology world today and it bears reminding to always be on the lookout.
I was recently reading an excellent article 6 Tips for Better Cybersecurity While Traveling by Kelly Rosenfeld of TravelAge West that offered some great awareness on things to remember in regards to security while traveling. Being extra aware when using public Wi-Fi is key and maybe never using it without VPN protection. As someone who is part of a technology company, this tip has been ingrained in us for security. However, I learned that there are hackers out there providing ‘evil twin’ fake accounts that look just like the real ones. The lesson learned there is either to ask to determine which public account is legit or maybe stick to using your personal hotspot if you have that capability. This article is a very good read for a great deal of insight about keeping your information safe when out of your home or office.
