Family Fun in Hawaii

While all of the Hawaiian Islands provide families an abundance of activities, as well as plenty of opportunities to make new memories, Maui and Kauai are both ideal locations for families. Both islands offer family travelers breathtaking views, just enough adventure to appeal to kids of all ages and, of course, many opportunities to spend quality time together.

Maui

Maui is not only known for its beautiful beaches and relaxing atmosphere, it’s also the perfect location for a family vacation to Hawaii. It has smaller crowds than Oahu and the air quality for young children and expecting mothers will be far better than the air on Hawaii Island, which is polluted by volcanic gas emissions -- known as vog. Maui can also give families that classic Hawaii vacation by incorporating a mix of activities that appeal to the entire family, as well as the necessary downtime to actually feel like you’re on vacation, which is harder to get with the tourists on Oahu and Hawaii Island.

The Kaanapali Beach Hotel or the Grand Wailea are both very accommodating to families. The Kaanapali has an onsite children’s program that’s free for children ages 12 and younger. It provides them with an “Aloha Passport” that they can carry with them as they visit “destinations” located on the property. The Grand Wailea is also a great place for families. The pools are kid-friendly and feature lazy rivers, water slides, and swim-up bars for adults. When your clients aren’t relaxing at the hotel, they can go snorkeling or embark on a whale watching cruise. They can also visit places like the Maui Ocean Center or the Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm.

Kauai

When people think of a family vacation to Hawaii, most don’t think of heading to Kauai. It’s less populated than some of the other islands, but it is overwhelmingly beautiful with activities and attractions for the entire family to enjoy -- which might make it Hawaii’s best-kept secret. And what’s better than bringing the family to the place where scenes from Jurassic Park were filmed?
