Delta is dropping international change fees.
On Dec. 9, Delta Air Lines announced that they’re permanently eliminating change fees on international flights from North America. This change is effective immediately and and applies to domestic and international flights originating from the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean.
Delta is also waiving fees on all tickets purchased through March 30, 2021, which was a policy that was set to expire at the end of 2020. After the new March 30, 2021 extension, basic economy fares are excluded and fees may apply once again.
This flexibility promise makes it easier for customers to book next year’s travels to anywhere in the world (including flights operating by joint venture and codeshare partners).
“No year has better demonstrated the value of flexibility than this one,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. “Our approach has always been to put people first, which is why we’re extending our current change fee waiver and making lasting changes to our practices, so customers have the trust and confidence they need long after the pandemic ends.”
This statement follows Delta’s announcement from late August of the elimination of domestic change fees. It also complements their existing commitment to providing customers peace of mind when traveling by blocking middle seats and limiting onboard capacity on flights through March 30, 2021.
