Booster Required: Destinations with New COVID Protocols
With the rise of the Omicron variant, several popular tourist destinations are requiring proof of a COVID-19 booster for incoming and outgoing travelers. What’s more, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently announced that its citizens will need to be fully vaccinated and boosted by January 10th to travel internationally.
The first new regulations come from Hawaii where, according to HawaiiNewsNow.com, the island of Maui will require visitors to show proof of their COVID-19 booster or provide a negative coronavirus test to dine, drink and workout indoors.
France will implement new changes beginning January 15th when travelers entering the country will be required to show proof of a COVID-19 booster to obtain a French Heath Pass. The Health Pass will allow visitors access to popular attractions such as museums, bars and more.
Also in Europe, the Netherlands announced that it plans to shorten the validity of vaccination certificates beginning on February 1st, 2021. After this date, the country will only accept vaccination certificates that verify travelers have received their most recent vaccine dose within the last nine months.
Finally, in the U.S., the CDC is advising people to avoid traveling by cruise ship regardless of their vaccination status. This recommendation came after the organization escalated its travel warning for cruise ships from Level Three to Level Four in December 2021.
