Once known as the gateway to the Caribbean, St. Kitts beguiles all the senses.
From the sweet perfume of wildflowers that bloom under the warmth of the sun to the aroma of a smoky sizzling barbecue on the beach, the scents of the island will envelope you. You’ll taste it in the carefully prepared fresh fish, abundant tropical fruits, and every delicious dish of Caribbean cuisine set before you. You’ll hear it in the pulsating sound of steelpan drums or local soca and reggae music that defines our native sound.
Visiting St. Kitts is not just about tantalizing the senses; it’s about awakening your sense of wander as St. Kitts seduces you, seeping into your soul with every day that passes. You see it in the beautiful faces of school children, waving back at every admiring passerby. You feel it in the warm and welcoming smiles that greet you wherever you go. The most enchanting quality about St. Kitts is undeniably her people.
You’ll love our stories, too. How the impressive Brimstone Hill Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was once known as the Gibraltar of the West Indies giving the British an advantage in protecting their stake in the region during 18th- century colonial battles. How the island rose to become the world’s leader in sugarcane cultivation, an inspiration for the industrial revolution in the process. And how explorer Christopher Columbus was so taken by the island’s natural beauty and saintly shape that he named it after the patron saint of all travelers, St. Christopher. (Little did he know, somewhere along the line the baptismal name he so reverently bestowed would be affectionately shortened to St. Kitts.)

Our resorts on St. Kitts make it easy to “Vacation in Place” whether on island for a short visit or long stay. The Four Seasons Resort Nevis will keep you busy with poolside yoga, movie nights and cooking classes, along with dining option at four on-site restaurants.
There is plenty to experience in St. Kitts outside of the beautiful resorts. Fully vaccinated travelers who complete their 24-hour Vacation in Place with a negative test result can freely integrate into the island. Various tours include a ride on the Scenic Railway along the coast and interior of the island, to an island tour that includes charming historical architecture and old churches in the bustling capital of Basseterre, to seeing Carib petroglyphs at the first settlement at Old Road and along the periphery of the rainforest on your way up to Brimstone Hill Fortress.
Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of historical, cultural and architectural significance. This centuries-old citadel is a monument to the ingenuity of the British military engineers who designed it and to the skill and strength of the African slaves who built it on the steep at the risk and probable loss of lives. It is one of the earliest and finest surviving examples of a new style of fortification known as the polygonal system. Its elevated vantage point offers panoramic vistas of forested mountains, cultivated fields, the historical township of Sandy Point, and neighboring Dutch, English and French islands across the Caribbean Sea.
If you’re interested in extending your time on St. Kitts and stay for more than a week, you will not run out of exciting, unique things to do.
Spend a day sailing the warm turquoise waters aboard a luxurious catamaran, stopping to fish or snorkel the clear turquoise waters teeming with marine life and massive coral reefs. Snorkel or dive the many natural reefs, like the reef at Dieppe Bay Beach, which is home to a colorful array of marine life, then relax on the exotic black-sand beach. Turn the water fun up a notch with fly-boarding, kite surfing, jet ski snorkel adventures and powered paragliding.
See St. Kitts from above while ziplining 250-feet above St. Kitts’ spectacular rainforests, hearing the teeming sounds of the forest.
Stay land-based and hike the rainforest trails or hike up Mt. Liamuiga, a dormant volcano, for a unique adventure, trekking past waterfalls, the tropical rainforest and the cloud forest at higher elevations. If you’re feeling extra brave, descend into the crater via rope for a soak in the crater’s lake. Those looking for a challenge can ascend the trail with tricky climbs to the Bat Cave or a five-hour hike up to Dos d’Anse Pond.
