ASTA Encourages Travel Advisors to Contact Legislators for Industry Support

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is calling on travel advisors to contact legislators to ask them to act now and provide federal aid for the travel agency industry during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday, March 13, ASTA sent an email to its members urging them to contact their governors and state legislators to ask for relief amid the ever-changing coronavirus situation. To make this effort even easier, ASTA created a portal for agents to send messages to legislators using a one-click form. There’s also a prepared message for agents to use, but you can also write your own instead.

On Monday, March 16, ASTA held a webinar with COVID-19 updates as well as industry updates from leaders of ASTA, Travel Leaders Group and Ensemble Travel Group. The webinar shared resources agents can use to navigate and protect their business in the current economic climate, including the form to contact legislators. The webinar is available to watch on demand.

The main page of ASTA’s website has a dedicated section for coronavirus updates that includes a link to the Small Business Association’s page on disaster assistance with information on the areas where low-interest federal disaster loans are available.
