ALG Vacations Executive Vice President Jacki Marks delivered an end-of-summer business wrap-up connecting ALGV’s newest policies, programs and platforms to the business’s strong 2023 travel numbers.
“Looking ahead to 2023 travel, we are currently pacing double-digits ahead in passengers vs. 2022 largely driven by groups—both Contracted Groups and GroupEase®,” said Marks. “We expect growth to continue building while comparing to prior year challenges with Omicron and Delta variants.”
Driving that growth includes recent ALGV initiatives to help travel advisors close more business, such as:
The July launch of an enhanced low deposit policy program for Mexico/Caribbean bulk airfares, with the reduction of bulk-fare deposits to only $250 per person for bookings made 46+ days prior to departure when booking Apple Vacations, Funjet Vacations or Travel Impressions.
ALGV’s new low deposit policy, exclusive to travel advisor bookings made in VAX VacationAccess, applies to Mexico, Caribbean and Central America bookings with eight major carriers: AeroMexico (AM), American Airlines (AA), Alaska Airlines (AS), Copa Airlines (CM), Delta Air Lines (DL), Sun Country Airlines (SY), United Airlines (UA) and Bahamas Air (UP). The Travel Protection Plus premium (if selected) and Basic Economy fares require full payment at time of booking. Visit VAX for a summary of all the ways customers can enjoy low deposits with ALGV.
The reinstatement of Mexico packages via Southwest Airlines®. Apple Vacations, Funjet Vacations and Travel Impressions are once again selling packages via Southwest Airlines to Mexico, nearly 21 months after the airline removed access to Mexico flights for traditional tour operators due to technology updates. Until last week, Southwest Vacations was the only tour operator allowed to sell Cancun, Cozumel, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta via Southwest.
“With traditionally low fares, two free checked bags, no cancel fees on the air portion, and Rapid Rewards®, the airline offers great value for Mexico-bound clients. That value becomes even greater when packaged with hotel stays and transfers from ALGV, the world’s leading tour operator to Mexico,” said Marks.
The August launch of ALGV’s new TikTok channel @AskaTravelAdvisorALGV, which offers travel tips and tricks, as well as promoting the benefits of using a travel advisor.
“As TikTok continues to grow with almost 80 million users in the U.S. alone, we knew we needed to have a presence on that platform to engage a new audience about the value of ALG Vacations’ brands and the power of using a travel advisor to book a vacation,” said Marks.
ALG Vacations will launch its new rewards program, WAVES, allowing travel advisors to earn points on purchases across all ALG Vacations brands on Nov. 4, 2019. The program provides greater ease of use and more attractive redemption options for bookings with Apple Vacations, Funjet Vacations, Travel
