Taking in the Statue of Liberty, strolling the Brooklyn Bridge, viewing the city from the Empire State Building, catching a Broadway show … these are just a few of the endless activities available to tourists visiting New York City.
In addition to all the amazing attractions, the city also draws in visitors from all over in search of delicious cuisine. From fancy, high-end restaurants to delicious street food, New York City’s gastronomy scene hits every angle. But how do you know if you’re choosing the best eateries?
Sure, you can ask for recommendations, but one of the best ways to discover a destination’s food scene is through a tour. If you find yourself hungry and looking for something to do in Brooklyn, look no further than WeVenture’s Foodie Brooklyn Brownstone Tour.
During this food tour, guests get to taste their way through the neighborhoods learning not only about the various local restaurants but the culture and history of the area as well. I was recently in New York City for a conference, and this tour was the perfect way to spend a morning before heading to the airport on my final day.

While there are variations, this particular tour began at Bien Cuit with a croissant. The French words “bien cuit” translate to “well done” in English, and this is the approach the bakery takes when creating its bread.
The all-too-familiar smells of coffee and sweets led us right to the next stop: One Girl Cookies, which had cake, cookies, cinnamon rolls, you name it. Since it’s never too early for dessert, some guests took a taste test of their mini “tea” cookies on the spot, and others chose to save theirs for later. This is a great spot to grab your caffeine beverage of choice to sip on during the walk.

By this time, you might be wondering if we stopped for pizza, and the answer is yes. Since pizza always seems to be on the mind when travelers think about New York, I’ll jump to our second last stop which was Table 87, where we each gobbled up a slice of authentic Brooklyn coal fired pizza, Margherita pizza to be exact.
Before we made it to pizza, though, we had to experience the city’s other fan favorite. You guessed it – bagels. Lox bagels are one of my favorites, and Shelsky's did not disappoint. The group got to taste the restaurant’s famous bagel sandwich with smoked salmon, and it was a dream come true.

Like many local restaurants and bakeries in Brooklyn, we learned that our next stop was a family-owned bakery. The third-generation Damascus Bakery is well-known for its fresh pita bread. Here we sampled baklava and spinach pie, which our tour guide was eager to introduce to us.
Now, you might be thinking, how could there be any more stops? But even though we had our cookie treats from the second stop, no food tour can wrap up without a decadent dessert to top it off. And this is exactly what we were treated to at The Chocolate Room.

WeVenture’s Foodie Brooklyn Brownstone Tour provided samples of some of the best food in the area. Along the way, we learned the history of these local eateries, a host of facts about the neighborhoods and the secret ingredient that makes New York’s bagels one of a kind – but I’ll save that for you to discover on your own.

Few things in life are constant, but as the seasons change, loyal reality TV fans know they can count on ABC to provide them with their fix of “the most dramatic season yet” of The Bachelor each year.
