5 Top Puerto Rico Resorts

It was the summer to discover Puerto Rico. In summer 2021, the island reported a 15% increase in hotel occupancy rates over 2019. Travel advisors were busy booking Puerto Rico, and still are. Here are some of their favorite hotels and resorts in San Juan and beyond.

1. Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach

Unlike the other resorts on this list, the 400-room Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach is not in the island’s capital of San Juan. Instead it’s further east on the island and near the breathtaking El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest Service. When you’re not visiting El Yunque, the gem of Puerto Rico, you can golf on one of the resort’s two golf courses, play tennis on one of the 13 courts, gamble at the onsite casino or relax by the sprawling pool.

2. Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino

The views of San Juan Bay don’t get any better than those from the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino. Located right in San Juan’s Convention Center District, this hotel is just a 5-minute drive to Old San Juan and just a 10-minute drive to the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU). Don’t miss out on the extra-special views from the infinity pool on the fourth floor, the world-class casino or the full-service spa.

3. San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino

You’ll be right on Condado Beach at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. You’ll also be a 5-minute drive from Old San Juan and within walking distance to restaurants and shopping – the location could not be more convenient. Back in your room or suite, take in the view from your balcony, have a cocktail at the pool bar, take a chance at the onsite Stellaris Casino, or simply relax at the pool, surrounded by palm trees.

4. Fairmont El San Juan Hotel

Fairmont El San Juan Hotel gives you the best of both worlds: it’s just minutes from the airport but feels a world away, as it’s situated on two miles of the Isla Verde Beach. The hotel’s 385 rooms were designed by award-winning architect Jeffrey Beers and feature bright floor-to-ceiling windows so guests can really capture the stunning ocean views. The onsite Brava Nightclub is a Puerto Rico hotspot but if that’s not your thing, relax by one of the four pools, indulge at the spa or hit up that amazing beach.

5. Caribe Hilton

Caribe Hilton is a stunning resort situated right at the gateway to the historic Old San Juan and Paseo Caribe’s entertainment complex. It’s also on a secluded, exclusive beach – and the resort’s 17 acres of lush tropical landscaping are what Caribbean vacation dreams are made of. Choose from views of the city, the gardens or the ocean, and then go relax in a hammock in the garden on under the Puerto Rican sun on the beach. With amazing dining onsite, you won’t have to go far to have it all.
